TMS was developed initially in the 1980s for brain mapping, rTMS eventually became a therapeutic tool that was approved by the FDA and cleared for management of TRD (Treatment Resistant Depression) in 2008 as well as OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) in 2018. It is a non-invasive, well-tolerated office procedure that involves using a high-intensity magnet to stimulate or suppress certain areas in the brain that are underactive or overactive depending on the diagnosis. We are currently using rTMS for TRD and awaiting our device clearance for the treatment of OCD. Our TRD course involves 30-36 sessions of 18 minutes of stimulation each day and is covered by most insurance companies.
